Weekend Baking | Scones

However you pronounce them, scones are a really lovely weekend treat, tasting best fresh and warm from the oven. After my afternoon tea a few weeks ago, I found myself wanting some more and so, last weekend, I got baking. Read on to check out the recipe...

You Will Need
(Makes 4 Large Scones)
175g of Self Raising Flour
45g of Unsalted Butter
80ml of Warm Milk
1tbsp of Granulated Sugar
A Pinch of Salt
Lemon Juice
Summer Fruits (To Decorate)
Jam
Clotted Cream

To Make
1) Rub the flour and butter together in a large mixing bowl until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs
2) Mix in the caster sugar, then make a well in the middle of the mixture
3) Pour in the milk and add a squeeze of lemon juice
4) Mix everything together until it resembles a dough
5) Sprinkle some flour onto your worktop then tip out the dough
6) Using a cutter, cut out your 4 scones
7) Brush the top with some milk and bake at 220° for 10-12 minutes
8) Decorate with summer fruits and serve with jam and cream

  1. Lovely post, Rosanna! Your bake looks super yummy and scones are the perfect weekend treat, I agree. When I’m out at a cafĂ©, I’m most likely to opt for a scone with a hot beverage. I’ve made my own scones many times now, nothing beats them when they are fresh from the oven. I may have to make some more, when I get the chance! :-) xx
