Organisation | Spring

Today I wanted to write a post about organisation. Spring is such a perfect month to do this as it can keep you aware of what you have and give you a chance to get rid of items you don't want. It's not always feasible to have everything sorted all the time but by following some simple tips and tricks you can minimise stress and help you (at least look like) know what's going on.

We have so much space on the walls around us that isn't often used to get the most out of. Maximize their potential buy putting up shelves in every room and hanging racks or mirrors in bedrooms with hidden storage behind them.

It's a good idea to group similar items together as, sometimes, it only makes sense to you where you store something and it can be impossible for other people to work out how to find things! Keep similar items in storage boxes such as skincare, cleaning products and cables.

I read a great tip not too long ago which said that if your storage is open for all to see, you are much more likely to keep it neat and tidy. Open wardrobes are great for this (if you have a beautiful clothes or bag collection) and bookcases with baskets and storage boxes on the shelves also look orderly as well as getting rid of clutter.

A bed that's also storage. A sofa that stores all your books. A hollow ottoman. When buying furniture, especially if you live in a small space, look for the most space saving solution that doubles up as two products in one to make your home look as beautiful as possible.

As we're in spring time now, this is a great chance to move all of your winter items that take up lots of valuable space. Store garments such as bulky coats and jumpers in boxes out of the way until you need them next. If you don't have any extra storage space then empty suitcases are a great option.

Invest in some thin space saving hangers for your wardrobe if there isn't much room. You can also double up items if needed.

Store shoes in clear stackable boxes at the bottom of your wardrobe to save space and also to see which pair of shoes are in each box without having to check through them all.

If you have space inside your wardrobe door, buy some hanging racks to store boots, handbags, scarves or jewellery.

How do you organise?
