Winter | Haircare

We're coming up to the time of year where we want to look our best but the weather outside is doing it's best to prevent us from doing so. Cold weather, rain and frost can really affect our hair and so it's important to prevent or protect from that happening. Read on to check out my winter haircare tips and leave yours in the comments below...

Flyaway Hair
This happens when hair comes into contact with heated air, for example going into somewhere with central heating when you've previously been outside in the cold. A good solution for this is to smooth a small amount of Moroccan or dry oil over your hair after you've blow dried to keep it in place.

────────

Hat Hair
Hat hair is definitely one of the reasons why I avoid wearing a hat if I can, and this shouldn't be the case in winter! By using a volumising salt spray or mousse on your roots when your hair is wet, and then drying, will lock in the volume for longer and combat the flat hair that your hat normally gives you.

────────

Dry Scalp
This is a common issue in winter but one that can easily be treated. There are many shampoos around that claim to combat this but another natural solution is to apply oil overnight (I like almond oil but coconut oil will also work) and wash it off in the morning with a gentle shampoo.

────────

Dull Hair
With a lack of Vitamin D, our hair definitely doesn't get the same benefits in the winter as the summer. You can take supplements if you want to but a shining spray or an overnight condition is a quick fix if you're looking for a rapid solution.

────────

Limp Hair
If you've been caught out in a downpour or a snowstorm then you know that whatever hairstyle you left with that morning won't be making a reappearance. Spray some dry shampoo on your roots and brush out or blow dry if you have a hairdryer to hand to re-volumise and re-style.
