Weekend Baking | Bonfire Night Apple Tarts

As bonfire night is coming up this weekend, it's nice to get in from the fireworks to some nice warming treats. These apple tarts can be made in advance and warmed up in the oven or kept in the fridge and baked as soon as you get home. As always, the recipe is refined sugar-free but if you've got a sweet tooth,  you could add some pieces of toffee in for a sugar-fix. Read on to check out the recipe and some more pictures...

You Will Need
100g of Plain Flour
50g of Unsalted Butter
A Pinch of Salt
4 Apples
2tbps of Maple Syrup

To Make
1) For the pastry, rub the flour, butter and salt together until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs
2) Add a splash of water and bring together the mixture into a dough. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes
3) Roll the pastry out and place over pie tins leaving some of the pastry aside
4) Cut the apples into slices and add to a saucepan with the maple syrup and a splash of water. Simmer until soft.
5) Place the apples into the tarts and use the remaining pastry to make a lattice over the top
6) Bake at 180° for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown

What have you baked this week?
