With the last of the autumn apples, I usually make a big batch of chutney for the Christmas Day cheeseboard! This year was no different and so this week, I set about thinking of what flavours I would like. I decided on a spiced apple flavour as the scent always reminds me of Christmas and cosy winter evenings. Read on to check out the recipe...
You Will Need
Makes 1 large jar or 2 small
400g of Apples
1 Small Red Onion
200g of Brown Sugar
175ml of Apple Cider Vinegar
175ml of Water
1tsp of Cinnamon
1tbp of Cloves
1tsp of Ground Ginger
1tsp of Mixed Spice
To Make
1) Peel and core the apples and chop into chunks. Add to a large pan with the diced onion, the sugar, all the spices and a splash of water
2) Stir thoroughly and leave to simmer for 10 minutes
3) Add the apple cider vinegar and the rest of the water. Simmer for 40-50 minutes or until the mixture is really thick
4) Pour into sterilized jars and store in a cool, dark place until Christmas
Have you ever made chutney before?

DeleteThanks so much for sharing this recipe, girl! We went apple picking a few weeks ago and we had picked roughly 100 apples, lol. I literally tried every recipe, except this one! We were thinking about going back as we near Thanksgiving, so I'll have to try this if we do. I hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead, girl!
