John Lewis Christmas | Stir-Up Sunday

A couple of weeks ago, I was invited by John Lewis to attend a 'Stir-Up Sunday' event at the Waitrose Cookery School in London. I'd never heard of Stir-up Sunday before but it actually takes place this weekend (Sunday the 26th) and is when traditionally, families make their Christmas pudding.

I've eaten many Christmas puddings in my time but I've actually never made one so I was really excited to give it a try! I'd always been a bit too daunted by the steaming at the end of the process, but the cooks at Waitrose showed us how to put the puddings into a roasting tin and fill that with water which looked much simpler than recipes I'd seen before.

Whilst the puddings were in the oven, we had a cocktail making class which was lots of fun. We were shown how to make a Negroni and then had a go ourselves, with maybe not as precise results!
We then sat down for a Christmas dinner complete with crackers and festive music, the food was completely vegan and gluten free and tasted delicious. My favourite dishes were the polenta topped with roasted vegetables and the sprouts with chestnuts.

You can check out the recipe in full and more information on the John Lewis website here

Have you ever made a Christmas pudding before?
