Weekend Baking | Refined Sugar-Free Cinnamon Rolls

As I mentioned last weekend, I'm currently trying to eat as little refined sugar as possible to help my skin. I actually gave it up earlier in the year and although I managed to do it, I found it really tough to follow through with. Looking back, I see that I limited myself too much and cut out sweet foods completely which made me crave them more. This time, I'm trying to re-create some of my favourite recipes but sugar free versions that still taste good and trick me into thinking that I've eaten what I wanted. Today, I wanted to share my recipe for cinnamon rolls, so read on to check it out...

You Will Need

For the Rolls
100g of Melted Butter
200ml of Milk
250g of Self Raising Flour
1tbsp of Honey or Maple Syrup
25g of Ground Cinnamon
2 Egg Yolks

For The Filling
100g Of Ground Almonds
25g of Melted Butter
25g of Ground Cinnamon
Natural Youghurt (to decorate)

To Make

1) Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and mix together
2) In a separate bowl, mix the millk, egg yolks and melted butter together
3) Add the dry ingredients and combine to form a dough. Roll out into a rectangle
4) Mix together the filling ingredients and spread them over the dough
5) Roll up the dough and cut into slices
6) Place the slices into a baking tray, leaving space between them. Bake at 180° for 25-30 mins
7) Remove from oven and leave to cool
8) Drizzle some natural yoghurt over the top

Have you done any baking this week?

  1. That's always the way - limiting ourselves too much always has us reaching for whatever we 'can't' have! Love how tasty these cinnamon rolls look xx

  6. I have a sweet tooth so it would be very hard to eliminate refined sugar from my diet without driving everyone around me crazy. Lol.

  19. Even if cinnamon rolls are a huge thing in Finland, I have never thought about adding honey or maple syrup to it. I need to try it next time!
