I love to have beautiful nails all the time but to be honest, it's just not realistic and it's really expensive if you are having them professionally done every few weeks. A couple of years ago I decided that I would purchase a SensatioNail kit so that I could have salon quality nails but not have to worry about going out to have them done. I do my nails in front of the TV or whilst watching something on my iPad and although the kit and polishes seem expensive, it works out much cheaper in the long term.
I know that there are many different brands and gel polishes out there that all probably give just as amazing results but they stock SensatioNail in Boots so the lure of all the advantage cards points is pretty much why I chose it!
It seems like a bit of a faff at first but the steps are now ingrained into my mind so I don't have to follow the booklet any more and it takes me around 30-40 minutes and if I do it properly, the polish stays on for a good 10-14 days so read on to check out how I do my gel nails at home...
━━━━━━You Will Need━━━━━━
♦SensatioNail Starter Kit (includes Gel Cleanser, Gel Primer, Gel Base/Top Coat & LED Lamp)
♦Colour Gel Polish (I used Sugar Plum by SensatioNail)
♦Nail File
♦Nail Polish Remover
♦Cotton Wool Pads
━━━━━━━━Step 1━━━━━━━━
With the nail polish remover and cotton wool, remove all your existing polish and wash your hands to get rid of any oil
━━━━━━━━Step 2━━━━━━━━
File your nails into your desired shape and buff the nail with the softer side of the file so that it doesn't look or feel shiny
━━━━━━━━Step 3━━━━━━━━
Using the nail cleanser and a cotton wool pad, cleanse your nails thoroughly
━━━━━━━━Step 4━━━━━━━━
Use the nail primer like you would a polish, covering all of the nail
━━━━━━━━Step 5━━━━━━━━
With the clear coat, paint a really thin layer on each nail and cure for 30 seconds at a time ( I work in 3 sections, thumbs and then two sets of fingers)
━━━━━━━━Step 6━━━━━━━━
With your desired gel colour, paint a thin layer on each nail and cure for one minute at a time
━━━━━━━━Step 7━━━━━━━━
Repeat step six so that your nails have two thin layers of the colour polish on and cured
━━━━━━━━Step 8━━━━━━━━
Paint your nails with the clear coat again and cure for 30 seconds
━━━━━━━━Step 9━━━━━━━━
Using the cleanser and a cotton wool pad, wipe all of the nails to get rid of any excess polish and make them dry to the touch

DeleteWhenever I get my nails done I always get gel! It is more expensive but totally worth it since they stay on for weeks! I don't even want to know how much I've spent on gel manicures in the past year (yikes!) so investing in a kit to do gel manicures would be a great investment for me!! Thanks for sharing!

DeleteI know the biggest trend in nails for the past few seasons have been gel nails but I have yet to try it. I hear the paint does stay on longer than usual. This seems like a good system to try. Is it difficult to remove?

DeleteSo, you have inspired me to start looking for a kit. I have been getting acrylic nails for a really long time now. It's taking a toll on my wallet and my poor nails are so brittle. You do such an amazing job though! I hope my nails look half as good as yours!
